More awards the Enquirer didn't win

The Goldsmith Prize for Investigative Reporting, from the Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard University. The Wall Street Journal continues to collect prizes for its work on backdated stock options. The Enquirer is not among the finalists. Surprised? Read the list of past winners and you'll see it's not impossible for a paper the size of the Enquirer to win this award.

Do you think that there is reason that the Chiquita terroism story isn't on enquirer.com. cincinnati, com or in print? The charge happened yesterday. If it was a federal charge does that mean it didn't happen here, making it somehow irrelevant? Or, is not reporting on Chiquita the rule locally?

So between what they collected from Gannett (plus interest, no doubt) and what they're paying the government, it's a break-even proposition?

It's going to be verrry interesting to see how the Enquirer handles this Chiquita/terrorism story ...

What would you like to bet that it will rank of less importance than other topics like the a handy guide to the Peeps supply and variety at the local retailers just in time for the Easter shopping experience?

It will be interesting if they have any more to say about Chiquita than can be gotten from the any other news site, newspaper or the blogging community.

the Chiquita story was online yesterday as of, about 4 p.m. -- AP, coverage, granted, which is pretty weak.

Can't speak for today or late last night, but Chiquita was the lead story on the site for awhile yesterday afternoon, for what it's worth.

Today’s editorial is a new low. To compare 300 Spartans who gave their lives for their country to college students bouncing a ball is as forced as comparing the Enquirer to a real newspaper.
