A change coming?
It appears that Enquirer publisher Margaret Buchanan has put her house up for sale, 8065 Brill Road in Indian Hill. She paid $1,255,000 for it in 2003, according to the Hamilton County Auditor web site. She is now asking $1,399,000.

Lord, lord. It is not the time to be selling a house, even in injun hill. Buchanan either wants to biggie-size her pad, or else her failure to refloat the Enquirer is prompting Gannett to ship her off to one of its other distinguished papers, like Pensacola or Burlington. She shows absolutely no instinct for the news business. Predictable since she's never spent a day in a newsroom.
Long overdue given her management style and record of declining results.
If she really is leaving, then placing her home on the market in advance of any announcement to employees really says a lot about her character as well as confirms what's truly important to her - herself.
Might be jumping to conclusions here...
If a change is not coming, then she might want to share why the for sale sign as there's already enough uncertainty for employees.
And why would she "owe" anyone an explanation? So, if you're looking for a job, do you "owe" your subordinates a heads up? Everyone in the newsroom thinks they're "owed" something...especially respect. heh. Keep living in your increasingly obsolete little world on 19.
Maybe you should learn how to use a computer before you blame the Publisher for your job uncertainty.
Lots of homes for sale on Margaret's street. Maybe development is creeping closer and she's worried she might actually have to talk to her neighbors. Here's an idea: Margaret's moving to West Chester, like everyone else.
Indian Hill real estate is in the tank right now. If you have to sell, it's likely at a loss (unless you've lived there a few decades). This must be a "has-to," not a "wants-to" because no one in their right mind would sell there if they don't have to right now.
Many things cause a home to be put on the market. From seeing the trees in the photos and video, this one has been for sale for several months.
The primary things that get a home on the market are either a career or lifestyle change.
Gannett is usually swift on professional changes at the Buchanan level. One would have to assume that they would buy the house to get the deed done. This sale doesn't look "quick".
This appears to be a lifestyle change.
Maybe an up-size: Doubtful with real estate in the toilet. The house looks to be a pretty big so why buy a bigger one when real estate stinks as an investment?
A child or parent needing attention is possible but you would think that the Buchanan's have ways of paying for assistance.
On the other hand, a divorce would make sense. In that situation, both parties want their share and, if decent, choose to make things easier on the children. It is the one thing that makes a long sale cycle, in a bum market, prudent.
People at the Enquirer have asked Buchanan about selling her house. Her explanation is that she is "downsizing".
God bless all the Enquirees... a "downsize" at MB's age is likely a divorce.
