Ex-Post editor gets sweet deal

Mike Phillips, former editor of the Cincinnati Post, has landed at the Scripps Howard Foundation, succeeding former Kentucky Post editor Judy Clabes as president and CEO.

Will all ex-Post folks get such a deal? The foundation's Form 990 shows Clabes made $177,865 in 2005. Sweet. I wonder if Phillips had a drink to celebrate.

Mike saw the Post through to it's bitter end. It couldn't have been easy. He deserves some cushy pay-back. Congratulations Mike!

Will this mean that he won't be wearing out his two pair of boat shoes anytime soon?

My wish to all the other Post-ees is success is all endeavors.

Mike Philipps was and always will be a complete joke. He's a corporate lackey who has mastered the art of being dishonest and unaccountable while having absolutely no backbone. Perfect for his new job where he will be unbelievably overpaid. He looked out for his own personal interests, which I won't blame him for, but in the meantime treated his coworkers with not nearly enough respect. He did not effectively stand up for anyone in The Post's newsroom like he should have. His condescending tone was his trademark, and his inability to adapt and innovative only helped drive The Post out of business.
I will never forget my days working with this man. As far as I’m concerned, it can’t get much worse.
